چکیده

: Extensively drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (XDRAB) pulmonary infection is a serious respiratory system infection. Patients are often very sick and even need to be admitted the ICU for treatment. In this case report, we presented our treatment experience of one XDRAB patient. A 71-year-old male patient was hospital complaining “fatigue accompanied by fever 2 days shortness breath 1 day”. The patient’s admission diagnosis as follows: severe pneumonia, acute distress syndrome, I type failure, septic shock, cardiac insufficiency, liver hypertension. Imipenem/cilastatin sodium combined with moxifloxacin were first applied. Then, tigecycline, imipenem/cilastatin caspofungin used. drug sensitivity results suggested that strain sputum culture sensitive polymyxin only. Thus, colistin sulfate cefoperazone/sulbactam medication process monitored. We found intravenous injection aerosol route effective in infection, no adverse reactions observed during anti-infection therapy nebulization could good choice lung infections.

Intraventricular versus intravenous colistin for the treatment of extensively drug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii meningitis.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Reports on the safety and efficacy of intraventricularly administered (IVT) colistin for the treatment of Acinetobacter baumannii ventriculomeningitis in adults are limited and no comparative studies of IVT colistin versus intravenous (IV) therapy alone have been published. This study compared outcomes of patients with postneurosurgical ventriculomeningitis caused by exte...

second patient were within the same subgroup, but similarity in nucleotide sequences was only 82.5%. This result suggests that this patient was infected with 2 different virus strains of HRV-A and a strain of HRV-C. Comparison of the HRV-A strains with the HRV-C strain showed that they belonged to different subgroups and had low similarity for nucleotide sequences. The second patient had 3 dist...

A case report of intraventricular tigecycline therapy for intracranial infection with extremely drug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii

RATIONALE Intracranial infection with Acinetobacter baumannii is a tough problem due to the presence of multiresistance and drugs poor penetration through the blood brain barrier (BBB). Tigecycline is effective to cure A baumannii, but it can only be used intravenously which is also difficult to pass BBB. So, it will be a breakthrough if intraventricular (IVT) tigecycline is used in the clinica...

Outbreak of extensively drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii indigo-pigmented strains.

Acinetobacter baumannii pigmented strains are not common in clinical settings. Here, we report an outbreak caused by indigo-pigmented A. baumannii strains isolated in an acute care hospital in Argentina from March to September 2012. Pan-PCR assays exposed a unique pattern belonging to the recently described regional CC113(B)/CC79(P) clonal complex that confirms the relevant relationships among ...

Acinetobacter baumannii resistant to colistin with impaired virulence: a case report from France.

To the Editor—In an article recently published in the Journal, Lopez-Rojas et al [1] demonstrated that an in vitro mutant of Acinetobacter baumannii resistant to colistin had reduced in vivo fitness and decreased virulence, in terms of both mortality and survival, in a mouse model of peritoneal sepsis. They suggest that the lower in vivo bacterial fitness and decreased virulence of this mutant ...
